Door for apartment or house

Do you want to know which particular type of interior door to choose for your house or apartment? Indeed, selecting a specific type of door is not easy, but with our recommendations, you’ll find the door design you need.

Check out the eight tips mentioned below when searching for the right door style.

1. Choice of frame

Two main types of frames enable the door to be adapted to the wall’s thickness: adjustable and fixed. The adjustable frames are quicker to install and more contemporary, though they are more expensive. So, before purchasing the door, you need to measure the door opening and the door itself, as the door cannot be exchanged or returned if it doesn’t fit properly.

2. Door opening direction

Figure out which way the door closes and opens in each room. Should it be outwards or inwards, the interior? For instance, if your room is small, the door usually opens outwards. Also, it would be better not to locate too close to each other because they might collide when opening at the same time.

3. Door dimensions

The dimensions of the interior door might be different. For instance, the standard widths of French inside doors are 36, 48, and 60 inches when the height is 80 inches.

The wider doors will ensure comfortable communication, especially for those using a wheelchair. So, take into account the surface finish of the opening and the flooring material when measuring the door opening.

4. Harmonious look

To achieve a more cohesive look, it would be better to ensure that all the doors are from the same style collection, featuring the same finish. Door frame finishes and door leaves must match the structure and color of the floor and the furniture.

In other words, the doors must fit in the overall interior design concept. Choosing the door, ensure you think out every single detail of your room style.

5. Solid or glazed?

If you’re unsure whether your door should be glazed or solid, consider the room’s access to daylight, its size, and your family’s lifestyle.

When it comes to a bedroom, solid doors are the perfect solution because they promise a feeling of intimacy and privacy. Because of better acoustic insulation, they are more conducive to sleep and relaxation. The glazed doors are convenient in darker interiors with less access to natural light.

6. Rebated and non-rebated doors

The interior gets a contemporary and stylish character if the doors are rebated because the leaf edge is flush with the frame.

As a result, the door appears to be built into the wall. Such doors are called classic because they look great in all spaces, transforming the room’s character into a more traditional one.

7. Right or left-hand door?

Decide on which side of the door you wish the hinges to be. To do it, you should stand in front of the door so that the leaf opens towards you. Then, glance at which side the hinges are on.

Suppose they are on the left, then the leaf is on the left. Once they are on the right, the leaf is right. Keep in mind that the leaf, when it is opened, must not obstruct the light switches or any other components of the interior. Ideally, the door must open onto a blank wall.

8. What about sliding doors?

If you don’t want your doors to dominate a small living space, choose sliding door systems. For instance, they are perfect for closing off ancillary rooms, such as wardrobes or pantries. They do not take up valuable space, which is especially necessary when installing hinged doors.

May you always feel peace and comfort in your home!
